The mountain and the bellowing elephantsKenya safariRoute: Nairobi - Amboseli - Tsavo - Mombasa - Diani Beach Many travellers decide to start their Kenya adventure in Masai Mara, while others travel deeper into the countryside first to take an Amboseli safari. Whichever route you choose, you'll still be able to end your trip on one of Kenya's tropical white beaches. Flying may be the fastest way to get from the bush to the beach, but if do so you'll miss out on two famous wildlife parks along the way: Amboseli and Tsavo. This is a real shame, as these parks are home to the largest population of elephants in all of Kenya as well as the Big Five. During our Tsavo and Amboseli safari you'll sleep in cosy safari lodges and in the evening, you can sit by the campfire to experience the ultimate safari feeling in the heart of the African bush. You'll travel by 4 wheel drive in an small international group with a maximum of 6 people with an English-speaking driver/ guide.* If you wish you can also choose to go on a private safari, just let us know. Click here for a map of Kenya and Tanzania * Small group safaris (max 6 people) are available starting September 2010. |

Nearly all of the brochures and magazines about East Africa feature images of this area - with elephants wandering free and Mount Kenya in the background. Rest assured, you'll definitely see elephants during your visit. However, before you go on a Amboseli safari game drive through the park, you'll check into your simple yet cosy safari lodge. After lunch, you and your driver will head into the park for your Amboseli safari. At the foot of the Kilimanjaro, you'll see the typical African savannah landscape, with a lonely acacia tree here and there. Your game drive will last until sunset and you'll drive past dry lakes and swamps filled with hippos. Once you return to your lodge, you'll be able to sit down to dinner before heading off to sleep. You'll spend the night at our tented camp in Amboseli. |

Day 2: Amboseli National Park - Tsavo WestTravel time approx. 4 hoursAfter breakfast, you'll drive east from Amboseli safari park towards Kenya's largest wilderness reserve - Tsavo. After about 4 hours, you'll reach the edge of the reserve and your driver will so that you can stretch your legs near the hardened lava streams at Shaitani and the natural Mzima spring. After your arrival in Tsavo West, you'll check into our safari lodge built entirely from natural materials. After a refreshing shower and lunch, you'll head out for a game drive through the park. Tsavo West is home to the largest population of wild elephants in Kenya. Approximately 6000 elephants live in the park, so they won't be too hard to miss! You'll also drive past the Tsavo River filled with crocodiles and hippos. In Tsavo, you'll also have a chance of seeing the Big Five (elephants, lions, leopard, rhino and buffalo). At the end of the day you'll drive back to your lodge for dinner beneath a twinkling sky. Day 3: Tsavo WestAs the sun begins to rise, you'll head out on your first game drive of the day. The roof of the safari van will be rolled back, giving you a 360 degree view of your surroundings. Early morning, is the best time to see lions or cheetahs hunting or relaxing in the tall grass. After a few hours you'll drive back to the lodge for lunch and a nap or perhaps some downtime on the veranda. When temperatures begin to drop, you'll head out on your second game drive. Before returning to the lodge you'll visit the Rhino Sanctuary to meet the endangered black rhino. At night a campfire will be lit, so you can sit back and enjoy a cup of coffee or a cold beer. Looking up you'll see thousands of stars, as you hear the crackling wood of the campfire and the distant roars of wild animals. You'll spend another night in our safafi lodge in Tsavo West. |
