Tanzania and Kenya private camping safari
We believe that staying in a private camp is the ideal way to really experience safari. What can be better than living outdoors, close to the elements, in the middle of nature. While camping in Kenya and Tanzania you won't be staying in a tent at a standard campsite. We have our own 'private camp' and bring along everything you could possibly need during your stay (in effort to conserve nature as well): tents, mattresses (in Kenya), beds (in Tanzania), comfortable safari chairs, an entire kitchen, a (chemical) toilet and a (warm) shower. The water for the shower is heated by solar energy, which means you'll have warm water for a shower at the end of the day. Water is heated on the fire in the morning so that you'll have warm water to use for shaving or washing up. We have selected very special and unique locations in Tanzania and Kenya for you to camp out at where you won't encounter hardly any other travellers. Aside from the independent feel of this kind of accommodation, one large advantage is that we can set up our private camp in the best locations to go on game drives. This is especially important during the great migration when millions of wild animals head out in search of fresh grass and water. When the time comes to move on to the next location, camp is taken down and set back up for you. You won't have to help out unless you want to.

Feast in the bush and never get lost...If you decide to go camping with us in Tanzania and Kenya, an English speaking guide will join you who also happens to be a certified safari guide. He knows the territory like no one else and can tell you all about nature and the animals in the area. Our private camp also has a chef that will prepare the most delicious meals for you in the middle of nowhere. You would be surprised how a chef can prepare such an elaborate, tasty meal with such little means. What can you expect when camping in Kenya and Tanzania? In the morning you'll have your choice of tea or coffee along with campfire roasted bread, eggs and bacon or pancakes and a healthy fruit salad. In the afternoon tuna, cheese and vegetable sandwiches will be served with soup and fresh fruit. During long days of travel a lunch bag will be prepared for on the road. In the evening you'll enjoy true bush cuisine, usually an elaborate 3-course meal with dishes from all different areas. If you have specific dietary needs, please let us know ahead of time so that our chef can keep this in mind while planning meals. |

Small-scale and comfortable campsitesA private campsite is a small-scale camping location in the middle of nature. The name says it all, you'll stay at a campsite with a private character. You'll hardly come across any other travellers here; unlike other campsites that draw the masses where large groups of travellers spend the night and usually travel with package tours. We prefer staying a private camp since it gives you the ultimate safari feeling of being alone in the wilderness and you can gaze up at the immense starry sky in peace and quiet.Like most travellers we like to have proper facilities in a private camp. Everything you need will be provided for you, even a (chemical) toilet and a (warm) shower will be brought along for you. You won't have to use shared facilities that are usually less clean than private facilities. |
What to bring along? If you plan on staying at our private camp in Kenya, you'll only have to bring along a sleeping bag and towels from home. In Tanzania you'll only need to bring along towels for showering with you. You don't need a sleeping bag since the beds will be made up with sheets and blankets here. Some stores however sell small, compact sleeping bags that fit fine in your travel bag. .SafetyThe camping areas in Kenya and Tanzania are not fenced in; however they have been used by travellers for years so wild animals stay away. The campsites are also watched after by park rangers, who patrol the area at night. Naturally it's still camping in the outdoors and from time to time curious animals may come around to sneak a peak. Our professional, certified drivers and chefs have been trained to handle this type of situation and know what to do in the unlikely case animals come roaming around. |
