Day 1 - NairobiTravel time approx. 20 minutesAfter you arrive and have picked up your luggage you'll be greeted by our driver in the arrivals hall. The drive to your quiet, small-scale hotel should take approximately 20 minutes. The hotel for the first night of your Kenya safari and beach trip is located just outside the hectic city centre. The rooms each have a bathroom with shower, toilet and warm running water (a luxury in Kenya). There is a fun bar and restaurant at the hotel that takes orders all day long. If you feel a bit peckish after arrival, you're sure to find something you like on the menu; from ostrich steak and tiger shrimp to vegetarian meals. Later on you can sit back and relax with an African beer on the veranda before you call it a night and fall into a deep sleep. |
Day 2 – Nairobi - AmboseliTravel time approx. 3 hours
Early in the morning on your Kenya safari and beach holiday you'll be picked up at your hotel in Nairobi by our driver for a 3 hour drive to Amboseli National Park. You'll usually see one or more elephants against a background setting of the Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Before you go on a game drive through the park, you'll check into your modest, yet cosy safari lodge. The lodge has an outdoor swimming pool. After lunch your driver will take you into the park. The sights along the way are simply phenomenal. At the foot of Kilimanjaro you'll see the typical African savannah landscape. The game drive ends at sunset and eventually you'll drive back to the lodge where will be waiting for you. You'll spend the night at our Amboseli safari lodge. |
Day 3 – Amboseli National Park - Tsavo WestTravel time approx. 4 hoursAfter breakfast you'll drive east from Amboseli towards Kenya's largest wilderness reserve Tsavo. After about 4 hours you'll reach the edge of the reserve and your driver will stop for a while so that you can stretch your legs near the hardened lava streams at Shaitani and the natural Mzima spring. After your arrival in Tsavo West you'll check into our safari lodge built entirely from natural materials and continue your Kenya safari and beach adventure. After a refreshing shower and lunch you'll head out for a game drive through the park. You'll drive past the Tsavo River filled with crocodiles and snorting hippos. In Tsavo you'll also have a chance of seeing the big five (elephants, lions, leopard, rhino and buffalo). At the end of the day you'll drive back to your lodge for dinner. You'll spend the night at our safari Lodge in Tsavo West. |
Day 4 – Tsavo WestJust as the sun begins to peak out above the horizon, you'll head out on your first game drive of the day in search of wild animals. Morning is the best time to see lions or cheetahs hunting or relaxing in the tall grass. In the afternoon you'll drive back to the lodge for lunch and a nap or perhaps some downtime on the veranda. Once temperatures begin to drop, you'll head out on your second game drive. Before returning to the lodge you'll visit the Rhino Sanctuary where you'll get to meet the endangered black rhino. At night a campfire will be lit up by the lodge. While you sit back and enjoy a warm cup of coffee or a cold beer, the feeling of being on safari will definitely sink in. Looking up you'll see thousands of stars and the sounds of crackling wood and the campfire and distant roars of wild animals preparing for the hunt will make a perfect ending to a perfect day. You'll spend another night in Tsavo West. |
Day 5 - Tsavo West – Amboseli - Diani BeachTravel time approx. 4 hoursAfter breakfast you'll drive for about three hours from Tsavo West to the small ferry that will drop you off at the tropical shore south of Mombasa. If you take the coast road, you'll reach Diani Beach in about 1.5 hour. This is when the beach part of your Kenya safari and beach holiday begins! Diani is located on a dreamy coastal strip filled with white sandy beaches, swaying palm trees and a turquoise sea. We've found a beach resort directly on the beach. The staff are extremely friendly and will do all they can to pamper you during your stay. The rooms are scattered across a tropical garden filled with curious monkeys and exotic birds. The rooms are spacious and all have air conditioning and a balcony or terrace. The afternoon is yours to spend as you wish, for instance you can spend it on the white sands of the resort's private beach. |
Day 6, 7 and 8 - Diani BeachSpend the next few days of your Kenya safari and beach adventure entirely as you wish. The white sandy private beach and beach chairs may tempt you to spend some time in the sun, you can stroll endlessly through the surf or you could go on a day trip. If you decide to take a day trip, it's best to book one through the hotel. You could go deep sea fishing, diving, jet skiing, kite surfing or wind surfing. We definitely recommend a trip to Wassini Island. You'll be picked up in the morning and then you'll drive along the coastal road to the harbour where a beautiful, large wooden sail boat will be waiting. After a drink and about an hour of sailing, the anchor will be thrown out at a sandbank in the middle of the sea. |
The sandbank is surrounded by a coral reef, an excellent place to snorkel. As the water slowly begins to rise, you can sunbathe on the sandbank until it disappears under water and the boat sets sail. On route to the harbour you'll also visit Wassini Island, where you'll sneak a peak at local fishermen's lives. The island's cheerful children will probably want to show you their homes and their school. Before heading off, you'll be able to sit down to a delectable crab dinner at a restaurant overlooking the harbour and the bays. At the end of the day you'll return to the beach resort where you can have a seat at the cocktail bar and let the bartender surprise you with an exciting concoction. Beneath the swaying palms you'll be able to look out over the white sandy beach and the waves rolling onto the sands. Slowly you'll see the sun start to set; the end of a perfect day. |
Day 9 - Diani Beach - MombasaTravel time approx. 40 minutes
After breakfast time will come to say goodbye to Diani and the Indian Ocean. If you would like to spend more time here, naturally we can arrange this for you. From Diani you'll drive past the palm tree lined coastal road towards Mombasa. After you catch the ferry to the other side you'll drive through the city and towards the airport to catch a plane back to the UK with a layover in Nairobi. This marks the end of your Kenya safari and beach adventure. |
