Day 1: Nairobi - Lake NaivashaTravel time approximately 2.5 hoursOur English speaking driver/guide will either pick you up from the airport or from your hotel in Nairobi. You'll travel in a small international group by 4x4 Toyota minivan. The van has a convertible roof, so that you'll have a 360 degree view of your surroundings during the Kenya safari tour. Once you leave the city you'll drive into an entirely different world. After lunch you'll explore your surroundings during a walking safari lead by your guide. There are many monkeys, antelopes, birds, giraffes, buffalos, warthogs and hippos. As the sun slowly begins to set on the horizon, you'll reach the highest point of the crater where you'll find a fresh water lake. A glass of chilled champagne will be waiting for you as you take in the magnificent view and enjoy the sunset before you. You'll spend the night at our atmospheric tented camp on the edge of a small crater near Lake Naivasha. The camp has a restaurant, cosy bar and 10 luxurious tents - each with a private bathroom and terrace. As you freshen up a bit, a chef will cook up a tasty meal at the restaurant for you to enjoy before you head off to sleep. |

Day 2: Hell's Gate National Park - Lake NaivashaAfter breakfast you'll head out on a short drive with your driver/guide towards Hell's Gate National Park. This relatively small wildlife park is named after the massive red-hued cliffs that surround an area filled with watering holes and steam vents. You'll also see geysers and rock formations in the park along a very deep canyon that runs through the middle of it. This is where you'll go on your first game drive and walking safari through the savannah with your guide. This is quite a unique experience since this is one of the few parks that allow this. You'll likely see giraffes, zebras, ostriches, baboons and gazelles here. No need to leave the park for lunch; your driver will bring a long a lunch bag for you. Then you'll continue on with your Kenya safari tour and you'll be taken to Lake Naivasha for a boat ride across the lake. At the end of the day you'll return to the tented camp at Lake Naivasha for a second night in a row. |
Day 3: Lake Naivasha - Lake NakuruTravel time approximately 3 hoursAfter breakfast you'll travel for about 3 hours until you reach the Lake Nakuru National Park. You'll arrive at your accommodation in Nakuru around noon. You'll spend the night in your own luxurious safari tent on the edge of an immense crater. After lunch you and your guide will drive towards Lake Nakuru National Park where there's a good chance you'll see the rare white rhino and with a little luck even some lions. One of the most incredible sights to see is the flock of thousands of flamingos that make up a pink carpet at the edge of the lake. From the look-out point you'll have a sweeping view and you'll be able to take the best pictures. At the end of the day you'll return to the tented lodge for a refreshing shower and a sit-down dinner. |

Day 4: Lake Nakuru - Maji MotoTravel time approximately 5 hoursToday you'll meet the Masai tribe and be a part of their lives for a day. You'll drive straight through their vast territory, and along the way you'll see proud herders wearing bright red cloths smiling and waving as you drive on. Our local representative lived in this area among the Masai for several months, and we think it is a unique, must-have experience. We'll set up your 'private camp' near a natural spring. Everything you need will be available: a toilet, a shower, lightweight tents, mattresses and safari chairs. A chef will travel with you and prepare dinner, and after lunch, you'll go for a walk with the friendly Masai who will tell you all about their culture, teach you the medicinal value of the local plants and show you how to use a spear. The Masai love to tell hunting stories about their ancestors and they'll take you to beautiful places with incredible views of the immense savannah. Once you return to camp you can take an invigorating dip into a warm water spring. In the evening, you'll have a bite to eat by the fire and the Masai will dance and proudly tell you more stories. You'll spend the night at our private camp in Maji Moto. |
Day 5: Out and about with the MasaiDon't be surprised if you wake up to the sound of chirping birds on Day 5 of your Kenya safari tour. If you like you can sleep in and relax for a while or perhaps take a nice, cool refreshing plunge in the springs. By this time your chef will already be busy preparing breakfast, while you enjoy a nice cup of coffee by the smouldering coals of last night's campfire. Sometime later in the morning you'll head out with the Masai deeper into the bush and you'll visit their village. They proudly show visitors their manyattas- traditional huts made of branches and straw. The Masai women make jewellery that you can purchase, however you can also help out and make your own.The children at the school enjoy showing off their notebooks and learning a few words in English. After visiting them you'll be waved goodbye and you'll head back to camp. At the end of the day you'll be able to enjoy a tasty meal prepared by the chef. When the night falls, you'll climb back into your dome tent while the Masai stand guard during the night. |

Day 6: Maji Moto - Masai Mara Travel time approximately 2 hoursAfter a relaxing morning and breakfast, camp will be taken down and your Kenya safari tour will continue to the Masai Mara. This is one of the most famous wildlife reserves in the world and truly a highlight on your Kenya safari tour. Camp will be set up at the edge of the park and after lunch you'll be driven to the park gate for a game drive. You'll drive over plains, through forested areas, past rivers filled with crocodiles and hippos and herds of zebras and wildebeest. With a little luck you may even see cheetahs, leopards, lions and elephants. As the sun sets, you'll return to camp where a cold beer and a tasty meal will be waiting. The campfire and clear night sky will certainly add to the ambience and create a perfect ending to an extraordinary day. You'll spend the night in our Masai Mara tented camp. |
Day 7: Game drives in the Masai MaraBefore the sun creeps up above the horizon, you'll be awakened by your driver. After a cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast you'll hop into the safari van for a ride towards the Masai Mara park gate, where the roof will be turned down for another game drive.Back at camp you'll find a delicious breakfast waiting for you. After breakfast you can take a nap or relax at the camp site. During the afternoon temperatures soar and most animals will search for cover in the shadows. Once the temperatures drop a little you'll head out for the afternoon game drive in search of wild animals. At dusk you'll return to camp. You'll spend another night of your Kenya safari tour in our Masai Mara tented camp. |
|
Day 8: Masai Mara - NairobiTravel time approximately 6 hoursAfter a tasty breakfast, you'll go on your last game drive through the Masai Mara after which you'll head back towards Nairobi. Unfortunately this is the end of the Kenya safari. It's customary to tip the driver. Generally US$20 per day is a decent tip. You can divide this amount by the number of people in your travelling party. If you'd like to explore the Amboseli and Tsavo wilderness reserves try The mountain and the bellowing elephants, which will take you all the way to the coast at Diani Beach. On Diani Beach, you can stay in our friendly resort with Bounty beaches and snorkelling bays on the coast. However, you can also take a domestic flight straight to Mombasa for the beach. Are you looking for the ultimate Kenya safari tour? Then we suggest that you travel to Tanzania after this trip. Two of our Tanzania adventure tours connect with the end of this safari tour, taking you across the border into Tanzania. Choose Private camp beneath the stars for Tanzania camping, or Serengeti and the Ngorongoro crater for accommodation in lodges and tented camps. |
