Laura ClarkKenya and Tanzania travel specialistI first visited Africa back in 2006 when I spent 3 months volunteering on a game reserve in South Africa. The excitement of a game drive in the African bush will never get old for me, I just keep going back for more. |

Kieran MaartensKenya and Tanzania tour operatorAfrica to me is a place of adventure, of possibilities. There is something special about it, something which defines it from all other places as unique. It's one of the last places on earth that's still truly wild, and there is nothing better than waking up to an African dawn.I grew up in South Africa, and in my twelve years there I gained a real appreciation for all things African. I remember it especially for the vast landscapes, the summer storms, the amazing wildlife, and the friendly people. I haven’t been to Kenya or Tanzania, but they are next on my list. The wildebeest migration, the Maasai warriors... I’ve seen the documentaries plenty of times, but now I want to go and see it for myself! |
Haydn WrathManaging directorI left the University of East Anglia in 1984 and escaped what seemed a very grim England by spending the rest of the 1980s travelling and working round the world. During this time I put in some usual stints as an English teacher in Tokyo, a landscape gardener in Sydney and a tarmac layer's assistant in Alaska. In 1990, I joined Bridge the World Travel Centre in London as manager of the World-wide department, where I was able to put my degree in Politics and Philosophy to good use.I fulfilled my ambition to set up a specialist travel company in 2001 when I founded Travel Nation, and later in 2008 Rickshaw Travel. I have continued to travel to many countries over the last couple of decades and am always utterly charmed by the people and the atmosphere I experience. Independent travel has so much going for it that it really can be all things to all people. Also of course, in common with so many other visitors, when travelling, I am in food paradise... |
