Day 1: Nairobi - Maji MotoTravel time approx. 4 hoursThis morning, our driver will pick you up in Nairobi and take you south towards the Masai Mara, Kenya's most famous reserve. You'll drive straight through endless Masai territory, where you'll see proud Masai herders wearing bright red robes which stand out against the barren backdrop of the land and the deep blue sky.Our driver and guide will set up your 'private camp' near a natural spring. Everything you need will be here: a (chemical) toilet, a shower, lightweight tents, mattresses and safari chairs. A personal chef will travel with you and prepare dinner while the Masai gather kindling for the campfire. After lunch, you'll go for a walk with the good-natured Masai who will tell you all about their culture. They'll show you trees and plants that have medicinal value and you'll also learn how to use a spear. The Masai love to tell their ancestor's hunting stories and they'll take you to places with incredible views over the immense savannah. Back at camp, you can take a refreshing plunge into a fresh-water spring. In the evening, you'll eat by the campfire as the Masai do their traditional dances and tell you (tall) stories. You'll spend the night at our private camp in Maji Moto. |

Day 2: Maji MotoThis morning, you can wake up slowly and take a cool refreshing plunge into the springs to get you going. By this time your personal chef will be busy preparing breakfast. Later this morning, you'll head deeper into the bush with the Masai to visit their village. You can meet curious Masai children at their school, where they'll entertain you with Masai songs. After a warm goodbye you'll walk back to camp for lunch. At noon when temperatures soar, you can either take a nap or read a book in the shadow of the trees. Once the temperature has dropped again, the Masai will teach you hunting techniques. After dinner, you'll go on a night game drive to spot wild animals in the dark. Although you won't see any lions, you may see antelopes and zebras. After the game drive you'll return to your dome tent while the Masai stand guard. You'll spend another night at our private camp in Maji Moto |
Day 3: Maji Moto - Masai MaraTravel time approx. 2 hoursAfter you've had time to wake up at your own pace you'll head out on a 2 hour drive to the Masai Mara, Kenya's most famous National Park that borders on the Serengeti in Tanzania. This is a real highlight of your Kenya safari. After lunch you'll set off on your game drive. Your driver has the trained eyes of someone who has lived and worked in this area for most of his life, so he'll be skilled at spotting animals in the Masai Mara. You'll ride across plains and through forested areas, past rivers filled with crocodiles and hippos and past herds of zebras and wildebeest. With a little luck you may even see cheetahs and leopards. Lions and elephants are also common here.As the sun sets, you'll return to the tented camp where a cold beer and a tasty meal will be waiting for you. You'll be surprised at what your personal 'bush chef' can put together in the middle of nowhere. You'll spend the night at our tented camp in the Masai Mara. |
