Day 1 - Moshi - Coffee pickingAfter breakfast you'll be picked up at your hotel in Moshi by our driver and you'll drive towards the rolling foothills of Kilimanjaro. With a little luck there will be a cloudless sky while you're there and you'll have an incredible view of the peak. You'll head up a bumpy road through the banana plantations. Along the way you'll see women with enormous baskets on their heads on their way to the colourful market. About an hour into your Moshi tours, you'll arrive in the village of Uru where you'll receive a warm welcome from an employee of the 'Coffee cooperative'.After a cup of coffee you'll go for a walk to the one of the local coffee farmer's plantations. Nature is untouched in this area and among other things you'll see banana plants, palm trees, papaya trees and of course coffee bean plants. Once you reach the coffee farmer's home you'll get to meet the farmer and his family, a real highlight of your Moshi tour. It's customary to give the farmer a small tip for his hospitality (five to ten dollars). After you say goodbye you'll walk back to where you started, where you can sit down to lunch and enjoy the wonderful view out over green hills. In the afternoon you'll return to your hotel in Moshi (see pictures at the bottom of the page). |
