Day 1: Tanzania border - Speke Bay (Lake Victoria)Travel time approx. 2 hoursOnce you cross the border, you'll be collected by a land cruiser and our professional Tanzanian guide. It's about a 2.5 hour drive to Speke Bay on the banks of Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa. Here, you'll stay in a cosy lodge or spacious safari tent by the Lake. In the late afternoon, you can relax on the lakeshore with a good book until the sun sinks under the horizon. The view out over Lake Victoria is magical. In the evening you'll have dinner by candle light in the lodge and with a little luck fresh fish caught in Victoria Lake will be on the menu. |

Day 2: Speke Bay (Lake Victoria) - SerengetiTravel time approx 30 minutesThis morning you'll take your time and wake up at your own pace. Early birds go bird spotting at the nearby natural reserve with local guide Gert. After breakfast, you'll be picked up by a local fishing boat run by young men from a nearby village. They'll proudly show you their village where fishermen repair nets and women lay out large and small fish to dry in the sun. After lunch in the lodge you'll drive to the gate of the world famous Serengeti National Park. Looking out for wild animals, you'll drive to your private camp site in the heart of the Serengeti, arriving just before sunset. |
Day 3: Serengeti game drivesBefore sunrise, you'll be awakened by your driver. After a cup of coffee and some biscuits in the land cruiser, you'll set out for an early morning game drive. You'll travel straight through the vast plains towards the Masai hunter territory. After a few hours, of spotting animals on the African plains you'll drive back to your private camp for breakfast and a nap. During the afternoon, temperatures can soar and most animals will search for shelter in the shadows. Once the temperatures drop you'll head out for a late afternoon game drive. You're sure to see lions and, with a little luck, even cheetahs. During the Great Migration you'll see millions of wildebeest and zebras rushing through the plains in search of fresh grass and water. You'll spend another night at our private camp in the Serengeti. |

Day 4: Serengeti - Ngorongoro CraterTravel time approx 4 hoursToday you'll wake up early and take down your camp before driving south. You'll travel through the endless grasslands which the Serengeti is named after (endless plains). Gradually the road will begin to climb, leaving you with a view of the immense Serengeti plains behind you. Along the way you may see a giraffe or two on the road before reaching the Ngorongoro crater at the end of the afternoon. The Ngorongoro crater is known as the Eighth Wonder of the World and referred to as the Ark of Noah. With a diameter of 18km it is the largest, completely intact crater in the world and it is teeming with wild animals. Slowly, our driver will take your 4x4 land cruiser into the crater and you'll be amazed to see elephants, lions, cheetahs, leopards, wildebeest, buffalos, antelopes, hippos and an alkaline lake filled with flamingos. You'll spend the night in our charming lodge or the tented camp in the town of Karatu. |
Day 5: Karatu - Moshi/Arusha - End of tripTravel time approx 3 hoursToday your Serengeti and Ngorongoro safari will come to an end. After a 3 hour drive you'll be back Moshi. It's customary to tip the driver. Generally a tip of US$ 25 per day is reasonable. This tip can be divided by the number of people travelling with you.If you would like to continue travelling you can choose from one of our shorter modules from Moshi tours or, if you are interested in a more active Tanzania adventure, you can also choose from a canoe safari or even a Mount Kilimanjaro climb. Or are you in the mood for tropical beaches and cocktails on Zanzibar? |
