Day 1: Tanzania border - Speke Bay (Lake Victoria)Travel time approx. 2 hoursWhen you cross the border, you'll be picked up by a land cruiser and our professional Tanzanian guide. It's a 2.5 hour drive to Speke Bay to the banks of Lake Victoria, the largest lake in Africa. Here, you'll stay in a cosy lodge or safari tent by the lake. In the late afternoon, you can relax on the lakeshore with a good book until the sun sinks under the horizon. The view over Lake Victoria is magical. In the evening, you'll have dinner by candle light in the lodge and with a little luck some fresh fish caught in Victoria Lake on the menu. |

Day 2: Speke Bay (Lake Victoria) - SerengetiTravel time approx. 30 minutesEarly birds can join Gert, the local guide, for some bird spotting at the nearby natural reserve. After breakfast, you'll be picked up by a local fishing boat run by young men from a nearby village. They'll proudly show you their village where fishermen repair nets and women lay out fish to dry in the sun. After lunch at the lodge, you'll drive to the Serengeti National Park. Looking out for wild animals en route, you'll drive to your tented camp with an incredible view of the savannah, in the shadows of acacia trees. You'll take one of the best game drive routes in the area, near the Kirawira and Grumeti River, where wildebeest cross the river and crocodiles wait to pounce on their prey. You'll reach the tented camp at the edge of the park around sunset. |
Day 3: Serengeti safariBefore daybreak, you'll wake up for your morning Serengeti safari. After a cup of coffee and some biscuits in the land cruiser, you'll set out for an early morning game drive. You'll travel straight through the vast plains towards the Masai territory. After a few hours of your Serengeti safari, your stomach may start to growl, so you'll drive back to your private camp for breakfast and a nap. During the afternoon temperatures can soar and most animals will search for shelter in the shadows. Once the temperatures drop you'll set off on a late afternoon game drive. You're sure to see lions and with a little luck even cheetahs. During the Great Migration you'll see millions of wildebeest and zebras rushing through the plains in search of fresh grass and water. You'll spend another night at our tented camp at the edge of the Serengeti. |

|
Day 4: Serengeti - Ngorongoro Crater - KaratuTravel time approx. 4 hoursToday you'll have to wake up early and drive south on your last Serengeti safari. You'll travel through the endless grasslands after which the Serengeti is named (endless plains). Gradually the road will begin to climb, leaving you with a view of the immense Serengeti behind you. Along the way you may see a giraffe or two on the road before reaching the Ngorongoro crater at the end of the afternoon. You'll spend the night in a charming lodge in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. |
Day 5: Ngorongoro- Moshi/ArushaTravel time approx. 3 hoursToday you'll descend into the Ngorongoro crater. When we first arrived at the edge of the crater, we were stunned and humbled, what a view..... The land cruiser will take you down into the crater for a game drive; however you won't have to look for animals for long. The crater is filled with wild animals: lions, wildebeest and zebras, grunting hippos, cheetahs, leopards, ostriches, jackals and in the middle of the crater a lake filled with flamingos. The high walls of the crater edge loom in the distance. After the game drive, you'll drive for another three hours to Moshi or Arusha and this will mark the end of your Serengeti safari adventure. It's customary to tip the driver. Generally a tip of US$ 25 per day is reasonable. This tip can be divided by the number of people travelling with you. |
